CA committees chairs' election on Jan 9

KATHMANDU, Dec 29: Constituent Assembly (CA) meeting on Monday amended the schedule for the election of chairpersons in various committees. According to the new schedule, the election for chairpersons of various committees should be completed by January 9, 2009. As per earlier schedule the elections were to be completed by December 29.



Speaker Subash Nembang informed that the election for CA committees’ chairpersons will be conducted at 11 am on January 9. The CA meeting formed a four-member constitution regulations amendment draft committee which includes CPN-UML lawmaker Agni Kharel, NC’s Minendra Rijal, Khimlal Devkota from the CPN (Maoist) and Kalpana Rana from the CPN (United).



Earlier, Maoist lawmaker Post Bahadur Bogati had proposed that the sub clause 4 of clause 65 in the regulations be amended to include members from Muslim and other communities.
