The library was established in coordination of Human Rights of Indigenous People Concern Center, Nepal (HURINPECC-Nepal) and with financial support from Teacher´s Union of Republic of Ireland and Foghlaim of Ireland. [break]
Byakul Maila (Pradip Kumar Rai), who penned the national anthem of Nepal, and Ram Nath Rai, chairman of HURINPECC-Nepal, jointly handed over around 500 sets of books to the library established at Mahadevsthan Secondary School at Hilepani, Thakle VDC in the district amidst a function on Wednesday.
Poet Byakul, who is also a founder member of HURINPECC-Nepal, studied up to his fifth grade in the same school. “We are proud to help the school where Maila learnt initial alphabets,” Ram Nath said during the function.
They also offered one year subscription of some daily newspapers and magazines including Republica, Nagarik daily and Garima magazine to the library. They have committed to provide equipments for science laboratory and other books to the school in future.
“This is a part of our joint campaign to establish libraries in schools in the remote districts,” Byakul told myrepublica.com. “We give priority to schools in rural and remote parts of the country.”
