KATHMANDU, Oct 6: On Thursday, British Ambassador to Nepal, Rob Fenn, engaged in a courtesy meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Purna Bahadur Khadka. The meeting took place at the Ministry of Defense in Singha Durbar.
In the meeting, Defense Minister Khadka expressed confidence that Ambassador Fenn would play a significant role in further expanding and strengthening the enduring and close relationship between Nepal and the United Kingdom. The conversation also touched upon addressing the concerns of retired British Gurkha soldiers.

According to a statement issued by the ministry’s Spokesperson Prakash Paudel, during the meeting, Defense Minister Khadka conveyed his expectation that the UK government would provide the necessary support, including pension benefits, to retired British Gurkha soldiers.
The statement reads, "During the meeting, climate change, cooperation between the armies of both nations and various other topics were also discussed."
Ambassador Fenn acknowledged the completion of 100 years of friendly relations between the two countries and highlighted the increasing depth of the mutual ties. He praised Nepal's distinctive contribution to global peacekeeping efforts at the United Nations' behest and affirmed the United Kingdom government's readiness to assist Nepal's economic, social, and human development.
Ambassador Fenn reiterated his commitment to fostering even more fruitful and successful bilateral relations between Nepal and the United Kingdom during his tenure.
