KATHMANDU, Dec 16: The 25th anniversary of BP Koirala Nepal-India Foundation (BPKF) is being celebrated amidst various functions on Saturday.
In Kathmandu, the Indian Embassy is organizing an event to mark the silver jubilee of the founding of the BPKF on Saturday in which a representative of BPKF at the Nepali embassy in New Delhi is also making presentation on its activities in India.

According to member secretary of BKIF at Indian embassy in Kathmandu Ruby Jaspreet Sharma, the function will feature musical and theatrical performance by Gurdev Kamad, Susudha Group, Theater Village, Aesthetic Dance Studio and Sadhana Kala Kendra. The function will also be addressed by House Speaker Onsari Gharti Magar and Indian Ambassador to Nepal Ranjit Rae.
The BKIF was established in 1991 with the objectives of fostering educational, cultural, scientific and technical cooperation between India and Nepal, and promoting mutual understanding and cooperation through the process of wide sharing of knowledge and professional talents in both academic pursuits and technical specialization.
Sharma said Saturday's event is aimed at highlighting the activities of the BPKF since it was instituted by the government of Nepal and the government of India during the visit of then Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala through a Memorandum of Understanding. "Indian embassy in Kathmandu and Nepali embassy in New Delhi will have a separate presentation about the activities being carried out by the BPKF in their respective work station," she said.
All the activities of BPKF are endorsed a meeting of the Board, which comprises of officials from both Nepal and Indian government, with ambassadors of Nepal and India serving as its co-chairpersons. With the objective of fostering people to people relations between the two countries, the BPKF in Nepal has been organizing a number of activities including seminars and workshops on concurrent issues between the two countries, film festival, painting exhibition, youth band festival and cross-border media conference.
Sharma said all these activities carried out by BPKF aim at promoting people-to-people relations between the two countries through the sharing of knowledge and promoting culture of both the countries. "We have also been organizing skill-oriented training for women in different parts in Nepal. They have greatly helped empower women in rural areas," she further said.
