Boxer Sushil gets citizenship

KATHMANDU, Sept 14: National boxer player Sushil Thapa, who was prevented from taking part in different international tournaments for lack of citizenship, has obtained Nepali citizenship on Wednesday.

KATHMANDU, Sept 14: National boxer player Sushil Thapa, who was prevented from taking part in different international tournaments for lack of citizenship, has obtained Nepali citizenship on Wednesday.

As his father Shiva Thapa Magar passed away and mother lacked citizenship, the 23-year-old boxer was having difficulties to acquire the citizenship. Sushil got the citizenship after the Member Secretary of National Sports Council Keshav Kumar Bista validated by visiting the Kathmandu District Administration Office. 


Assistant Chief District Officer of Kathmandu Basudev Ghimire handed over the citizenship by decent to Thapa. Sushil is gold medalist in 49 kg weight category boxing in the 7th National Sports held in the eastern development region.
