Book highlighting Damauli's historic identity released

Devi Bahadur Basnet and Bikash Khanal launched a book 'Damauli Mahatmyam' that aims to promote the religious, historic and cultural identity of Damauli and its adjoining areas. The book was launched amidst a special program held in Damauli, Tanahu on Friday. 'Damauli Mahatmyam' revolves around religious and historic importance of Damauli and aims to promote the place as a religious tourist site.

Speaking at the launch event, Gandaki State Assembly Member and Public Account Committee President Kumar Khadka said he was hopeful that the book would help further disseminate the historic identity of Damauli. Gandaki State Assembly Members Dobate BK and Sarita Gurung were confident that the book would earn an identity of the historic document concerning Damauli while Byas Municipality Mayor Baikuntha Neupane said it would be helpful in protecting and promoting religious and cultural sites in Damauli and adjacent areas.


Nepal Communist Party central member Pratap Lal Shrestha hoped that it would serve as a guideline for the Damauli folks. Commenting on the book, litterateur Sheshmani Acharya said writers had tried their best to document ancient historical accounts relating to Damauli. "It will remain as a reference material for the study of ancient history of Damauli". Another commentator Samundra Godar praised the book for its attempts to establish identity and significance of Damauli.
