Bolster traffic management: PM Bhattarai

KATHMANDU, Oct 12: In response to the growing complaints from the public against weak traffic management in the capital, Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai on Wednesday instructed the Metropolitan Traffic Police Chief DIG Ganeshraj Rai to make the city´s traffic management effective.



In the presence of Secretary of Ministry of Labor and Transport Dr Ramhari Aryal, PM Bhattarai directed Rai not to halt vehicular movements even during the visits of VIPs. [break]



The prime minister also directed DIG Rai to take action against those who are involved in breaching the traffic rules. At the meeting DIG Rai informed Prime Minister Bhattarai that there are 570,145 vehicles registered in the Bagmati Zone.



Stating that there are at present 965 traffic police personnel deployed in the capital, Rai said that his office needs additional 884 traffic police personnel to bolster the traffic management.
