Blog speak and more with Lex Limbu

By No Author
KATHMANDU, June 8: In the past six years that he’s been blogging, Lex Limbu has received accolades as well as censure for his blog posts. Lexlimbu.com is an extension of his interests and he states that he did struggle with the negative feedback that he received before coming to terms with the fact that now they do not matter. “For me, negative criticisms that are thrown to hurt are simply words without meaning,” he says.

When you’re a blogger followed and read by thousands, your job comes with a responsibility. Even Lex wasn’t prepared for the popularity of lexlimbu.com. Being in the public eye means being pressed with a certain liability, and the young blogger agrees that there’s immense pressure to be a reliable source of news which makes it harder for him to retain that essence of blogging. “I try my best to be very concise regarding what I put out as the last thing I want is someone getting inaccurate information from my blog. It is challenging as I sometimes feel the essence of the blog being a ‘blog’ is fading away and there’s a growing responsibility here,” he shares.[break]

However, Lex believes it’s easier for him to do his job as people have come to understand that his blog comprises of issues that interest him. And when he is approached by people to blog about certain issues, he politely declines if it doesn’t match the criteria.

In his early twenties, Lex says that the youth need to remember that they need to be able to compete globally without losing sight of their culture, identity and values.

He intends to work in the development field and has been occupied in charity work and fundraising for the past four years. He has also interned with an INGO in London and plans to return to Nepal in the next year for some more experience.

Lex has a fascinating list of things he wants to do before hitting 30 years of age. “I actually have an increasing list of things that I want to do. They include travelling to South America, working with elephants, opening a business with my name and writing a book. I would love to open my own foundation later in life, a place that nurtures and teaches valuable skills to individuals so they can get a better start in their journey,” he shares.
