PATHARI (Morang), Oct 16: The Biratnagar Jute Mill has remained out of operation for the last 25 months owing to defective power supply system.
The country's first jute mill has not been able to function properly as it has to rely on 11 KV electrical line service.
The Wilson International Pvt based in India had taken the mill on lease from the government with an agreement to provide Rs 13.5 million in annual rent three and a half years ago, said Shyam Poudel, Nepal Representative of the Wilson International.
The company had appealed to the administrative committee to set up 33 KV dedicated line, but later closed the mill after its demand fell on deaf ears.
In the contract paper, the Administrative Committee had pledged to install 33 KV line but it has not materialized even after 25 months. Mill Administrative Committee Chairman, Nilhari Kafle, said the mill did not close down due to problem with electrical power. RSS
