KATHMANDU, Feb 12: Bir Hospital has suspended surgeries due to a shortage of essential materials, resulting in the cancellation of scheduled operations on Monday, as reported by hospital sources in Kathmandu on February 12.

A surgeon at Bir Hospital stated, "The operation that was supposed to be conducted today was stopped because necessary materials were not available."

He explained that the suspension of today's operation was attributed to a week-long shortage of materials in the hospital. Following the discontinuation of regular operations due to insufficient materials, the hospital convened an emergency meeting on Monday.

The surgeon further mentioned that a budgetary shortfall had led to a crisis in the laboratory, hindering the procurement of necessary materials, reagents, and other items crucial for the hospital's operation theater. "Since this problem has persisted for a week, it escalated further on Monday," he added.
