Hospital , as acting vice chancellor. The post was vacant after Dr Bishwo Raj Dali resigned on Sunday.
Besides Dr Dali, Dr Bramha Dev Jha, dean; Dr. Bijaya Kumar Sharma, rector; Dr Ranjan Prasad Singh, registrar, and Dr Shrawan Kumar Chaudhari, director of the hospital, had resigned their posts Sunday. Their resignations came after more than three weeks of protest by staffers of the hospital.
Dr Manandhar has been authorized to fill other vacant posts in the hospital.
The staffers had demanded resignation of Dr Dali only, alleging that he failed to bring in any positive change in the hospital during his two years at the hospital. They also charged that he could not deal with the mounting financial irregularities in the hospital and the medical college.
Permanent status for all temporary staff, uniform perks and benefits and recruitment of new staff in the vacant positions are other demands of the protestors.
