The municipality increased the entry fee that has been collected from tourists come to visit the municipal area, according to Chief of the Tourism Service Center Gautam Prasad Lasiwa.[break]
The municipality had been charging Rs. 50 per head for the tourists from SAARC countries and China, and Rs. 750 to those from other countries since 2001. It has been made Rs. 100 for those from SAARC countries and China, and Rs. 1,100 for the visitors from other countries.
The municipality had started to charge entry fee to the visitors since 1994. It used to collect around Rs. 80 million of revenue from tourism fee every year.
Lasiwa said the municipality has also welcomed nine tourists arrived in Bhaktapur for visit offering Bhadgaule cap and flowers as for the token of love.
Meanwhile, a rally was organized to disseminate the places of cultural, historical and archeological importance in Bhaktapur. The rally rounded different parts of the municipality and gathered at Bhaktapur Darbar Square where some historical dances were performed later.
Similarly, an exhibition has been organized at Lamopati where different goods produced in Bhaktapur district have been kept.
Nepal Workers and Peasants Party Chairman Narayan Man Bijukchhe inaugurated a Tourism Information Center established at the counter of the Darbar Square.
The center will provide all the information about the municipality for the tourists, said former Mayor of the municipality Prem Suwal. The center will provide free internet services to the visitors.
