Being independent

“I lost one of my eyes when I was three months old. But it didn’t stop me from enjoying my life. I have five children and I am happy to be working at this age. At least I am independent, that’s how I see things. I want people to be happy too,” said Uma Moktan.

The 62-year-old from Sindhupalchowk has a small goods stall near Dharhara, Kathmandu. She has had this stall since 2037 BS. Moktan has arthritis, but there isn’t one day that she has ever missed to set out her stall.
