LALITPUR, Oct 3: Are you violating traffic rules?  If you are, be careful! If you violate traffic rules, you will be caught at any time.

To maintain the traffic rules, the Metropolitan Traffic Division, Hanumandhoka has fixed dash cameras on all the traffic vehicles plying inside the Kathmandu Valley, with effect from October 2. This camera will be keeping a close tab on both the pedestrians and vehicles.

The dash camera is fixed in front of the vehicles unnoticed. Even though the cameras look like a CC TV, it records all the audio video, road condition, pedestrians, time, activities of traffic police and the vehicles plying on the road.

It records activities wherever it reaches.

The dash cameras have been fixed on all the 50 traffic vehicles plying within Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur.

The dash camera will help maintain traffic rules and bring the unruly drivers under the purview of action, said traffic in-charge of Lalitpur District Sitaram Hachhenthu. He said, “We can penalize the unruly driver with evidences right away.”

Similarly, since the dash camera also captures the mistakes on the part of the pedestrians, it will also help take action against those who cross the road breaching rules.

The dash is also useful in capturing images of activities including violation of road lane, overtaking, exceeding speed limit, parking in prohibited areas, driving motorcycles without helmet and carrying passengers beyond capacity.
