Bankers propose 5-day work in view of power crisis

KATHMANDU, Dec 31: Nepal Bankers´ Association (NBA) has proposed to reduce the operation of the commercial banks to five days a week to cut rising costs of operation due to the deepening power crisis. According to Radio Kantipur, NBA has recently forwarded such proposal to the Nepal Rastra Bank. The Bankers´ body has claimed that a one-day additional closure of the banks on Sunday can help to lower the cost of operation by up to 25 percent.
