Disgruntled political parties had called general strike across the Tarai to protest what they said was excessive use of force by local administration against peaceful agitators who opposed feedback collection on the draft constitution.Transportation services and markets were closed down in the Tarai districts in view of the general strike. The protest had left many passengers stranded, while industries, businesses and schools were forced to remain shut.
Makawanpur locals were the hardest hit due to Wednesday's banda called by the RPP Nepal. Leaders and cadres of RPP Nepal have staged protests in Hetauda, district headquarters of Makawanpur district.
According to RPP Nepal, the party called for the banda in Hetauda to protest the police intervention and excessive use of force against its cadres and the injury suffered by CA member Ganesh Thapa on Tuesday.
The party alleged the local administration for misusing its authority to thrash its leaders and cadres during a peaceful protest program against feedback collection on the draft constitution.
Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police (SP) Prakash Jung Karki of District Police Office (DPO), Makawanpur informed that no untoward incident has taken place during the banda.
A huge number of security personnel were mobilized in Hetauda with a view to bring the situation under control, as per the DPO, Makawanpur.
