Nepal Rastra Bank -- the central monitory authority - had forwarded a draft guideline on imports of gold and silver to the ministry on December 7.
The ministry, however, has yet to finalize the guideline that is aimed at managing the domestic gold and silver market.
Gold and silver dealers have been exerting pressure on the government to lift the ban on gold import amid deepening shortage of the precious metal in the domestic market in the ongoing wedding season.
Tej Ratna Shakya, president of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers Association, told Republica that they will meet MoCS officials on Wednesday to settle the issue of gold and silver imports.
Meanwhile, gold price increased to Rs 34,380 per 10 grams or Rs 40,100 per tola (11.664 grams) on Tuesday, up from Rs 34,380 per 10 grams recorded a day earlier.
Silver also jumped to Rs 729 per 10 grams or Rs 850 per tola on the day.
