As border dispute arose between Rautahat and Sarlahi districts, the Rautahat District Court imposed a ban on the export of riverbed materials after district administration offices of both the districts agreed for the same. After the formation of the local government, the contract to extract riverbed materials from the Bagmati River was handed over by Brindaban Municipality and Gadhimai Municipality of Rautahat.

Since the start of the current fiscal year, Barahathawa Municipality had started claiming that Bagmati River is in Sarlahi district.
