BAITADI, June 29: Bajhang in far-western Nepal was jolted by 13 tremors Wednesday afternoon. The first tremor was felt at 2:55 pm. Thireen tremors were recorded by 5:51 pm, according to the National Seismological Centre in Kathmandu.

According to the Seismological Centre in Surkhet, a magnitude 5 tremor was felt at 2:55 pm followed by magnitude 4.2 tremor at 3:11 pm, magnitude 3.8 at 3:28 pm and magnitude 3.6 tremor at 3:29 pm. The RSS reported that the epicenter of all tremors was Mayana, 11 km northeast from Chainpur, the district headquarters of Bajhang.
Local people rushed to open space after the tremors. Most of the houses in Chainpur have developed cracks and the old buildings are on the verge of collapse.
