KATHMANDU, Dec 20: Attorney General Basanta Ram Bhandari has given nod to initiate action against newly elected lawmaker Nawaraj Silwal in line with the Supreme Court’s recent verdict.

In a full text verdict issued recently, SC had ordered the government to initiate action against former DIG Silwal following investigation into his falsified documents he had submitted to the apex court.

“Attorney General Bhandari has given nod to initiate action against former DIG Silwal in line with the SC’s verdict saying that the verdict is clear per se,” a highly placed source at the Office of the Attorney General told Republica Online.

Silwal has been elected to the House of Representatives from Lalitpur-1 representing UML. A file has been lodged at the Metropolitan Police Range Office, Kathmandu seeking due action against Silwal on Wednesday.

Hearing the case on last Thursday, SC had ordered the government to initiate action against Silwal concluding that the performance appraisal documents he submitted to the apex court seeking promotion were falsified.

An extended full bench comprising Chief Justice Gopal Parajuli, Justices Om Prakash Mishra, Kedar Prasad Chalise, Sharada Prasad Ghimire, Mira Khadka, Prakash Man Singh and Purusottam Bhandari has clearly stated that those found guilty in submitting fake performance appraisal certificates seeking promotion should be brought to book.
