KATHMANDU, Dec 26: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has said that conspiracies were being hatched to overturn the achievements of the People's Movement and the People's War.

The Prime Minister stated this while addressing a book-launching programme here today. On the occasion, the PM launched the book ' Chacha Bhakti Prasad Pandey Sangharsha Yatra', a biography on the CPN (Maoist Centre) leader the late Bhakti Prasad Pandey.

PM Dahal said – "Conspiracies have started in closed doors to overthrow the agenda of change presuming the force of change has become weak."

Stating plots were afoot not to allow the implementation of the constitution issued from the Constituent Assembly and to overturn secularism, inclusion and proportional representation, he said adding that some people were working to revive the 1990 constitution saying they did not care whether the present constitution is thrown out. The forces that brought the changes should be united to defeat such tendency, he asserted.

The change is directly related to the Maoist movement, the PM, who is also the CPN (Maoist Centre) chairman, said on the occasion, adding that some people were in the game of making the current constitution a failure.

The Prime Minister also called for unification among the forces of change even to defeat this tendency which he said will take the country towards an accident. "The country cannot revert to the 1990 era. Even if some people have dreamt of preventing the implementation of the present constitution, that would not be possible as the government and the forces of change would move ahead as one to defeat this attempt," he said.

Stating that he still thought the step taken by Dr Baburam Bhattarai to leave the Maoist movement and take a new way at the time of implementation of the constitution was not appropriate, he emphasized on the need of all the forces of change to come to the same place to 'safeguard the agenda of change'.

The PM stated that the constitution made by the Constituent Assembly was the main achievement of the People's War and the people's movement and the primary responsibility at present is to take the country ahead towards a new direction by means of smooth constitution implementation and holding the election of the local bodies, provinces and the central parliament.

PM Dahal added that late Pandey was an exemplary figure for upcoming generations as well saying that he never longed for power and position.

Similarly, speaking in the same programme, Naya Shakti Coordinator and former Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai said that he had contributed a lot for the unity of Maoist forces to complete the revolution during the insurgency.

In another context, Dr Bhattarai stressed on the economic prosperity of the nation adding that he chose a different way due to the difference on understanding in some agendas with CPN (Maoist Centre). He said that they could again meet in future when their agendas meet.

Likewise, Maoist Centre leader Dinanath Sharma and journalist Sitaram Baral had also focused on the various facets of late leader Pandey.

It may be noted that Pandey was assigned to manage the arms during the decade-long Maoist insurgency.

The book was published by Shangrila books. Pandey died on November 13 this year due to cancer. RSS
