KATHMANDU, July 3: The Department of Passport (DoP) has requested the people not to come to Kathmandu to get a passport except in case of an emergency. Issuing a notice today, the department said that it has made arrangements to print and send the passports to the districts that people apply for from the district administration offices every week.
The DoP said in the statement, "The number of service-seekers applying for passports has been increasing significantly in the last three months. To increase the capacity to serve more service-seekers, arrangements have been made to apply for passports regularly from all district administration offices and 17 area administration offices.”

Similarly, the DoP has said that applicants from the Kathmandu Valley and Kavrepalanchowk can obtain their passports within a week while the applicants from other districts can receive it within 10 to 15 days. "The most urgent service-seekers are requested to apply to the passport department and other less urgent service recipients are requested to avail the service from their respective district administration offices," the statement reads.
“The DoP is constantly updating the electronic passport system as well as the online system. In addition, the department has provided services to the service-seekers even on public holidays,” the passport department said in the statement.
Likewise, the department claimed that it is providing services to more than 5,000 people daily.
