JYC secured an easy win over the HSC -- the winners of San Miguel Knockout Football Tournament -- held recently in Kathmandu. [break]
JYC took an early lead in the 13th minute as Bishal Rai (B) netted a goal from Jaggunath Shrestha´s cross. Bishal Rai (A) added the second goal for JYC eight minutes later. Taking a 2-0 lead in the first half, JYC didn´t give any chance for their opponent to score in the second half.
After the victory, JYC coach Rajaram Karki said he will opt for attacking game when they face the defending champions. Two years ago, Army had defeated JYC 1-0 in the semifinals.
Karki claimed that they were able to defeat HSC due to attacking tactics.
Army are the winners of the 12th and the 16th editions of the tournament. This is the second time that JYC have entered the final of a major club-level tournament in their history. They had made it to the final of the Budha Subba Gold Cup six years ago but lost the match 3-0 to Nabil Three Star Club.
Meanwhile, HSC´s coach Upendra Man Singh said the team was not set in the first half and couldn´t score in the second half despite playing well. Singh said the main reason behind the loss was that the players didn´t have enough training after the San Miguel Knockout Football Tournament.
