Indecisive meeting pushes party merger deadline



The Party Unification Coordination Committee meeting at Prime Minister’s concluded that CPN UML and Maoist Center would not form a merger on April 22.  “Despite much hype, today’s meeting failed to reach any breakthrough. “There was lack of preparation from both the parties,” Ishwar Pokharel, general secretary of UML said.


Karnali Province cabinet grants permission for legislation


A meeting of the council of ministers of Karnali Province on Tuesday decided to grant permission in principle to the Internal Affairs and Law Ministry to formulate a bill relating to province level public records certification procedures.

Law to include provision for suspending MPs in case of implication on criminal case


The House of Representatives, Regulations Drafting Committee is doing homework to incorporate in the regulation the provision on automatic suspension of the post of Member of Parliament if a criminal case is filed against the MP or if the lawmaker is taken into custody for investigation. 


China's Weibo site backtracks on gay censorship after outcry


One of China's top social networking sites announced Monday that it will no longer be censoring content related to gay issues after the plan triggered a loud public outcry. Weibo.com was flooded over the weekend with the hash tags "#I'mGay" and "#I'mGayNotaPervert" after the Twitter-like platform said that cartoons and short videos with pornographic, violent or gay subject matter would be investigated over a three-month period.

FIFA has charged World Cup host Russia with fan racism less than two months before the tournament begins. Monkey chants were aimed at black French players, including Paul Pogba, during France's 3-1 friendly win over Russia in St. Petersburg last month.


Caffeine might help people with heart troubles, research says


Drinking coffee and tea every day may actually benefit people with heart troubles.New research has linked caffeine consumption from the two popular drinks to decreased rates of arrhythmias, or abnormal heart rhythms. But the researchers warn against the consumption of energy drinks that contain high levels of caffeine for anyone with a pre-existing heart condition.
