APF, Eastern Region to vie for gold

KATHMANDU, Dec 26: Departmental team Armed Police Club (APF) and Eastern Region have fixed the final clash of women's T20 cricket tournament under the Seventh National Games winning their respective semifinal matches played at the DVM School ground in Itahari on Monday.



Sarita Magar and Karuna Bhandari shone with the bat in the departmental team's thumping 83-run win over Mid Western Region. Similarly, an unbeaten 55 runs from Kajol Shrestha gave Eastern Region a comfortable 60-run win over Central Region.



Put to bat first after losing the toss, APF scored 120/4 and restricted Mid Western Region for a meager total of 37/9 at close. 



Sarita, who cracked an unbeaten 43 runs off 45 balls, shared an 84-run stand for the fourth wicket with the highest scorer of the match Karuna Bhandari, who smashed 45 runs off 40 deliveries, before the latter was caught and bowled by Anita Chaudhary. Opener Jyoti Pandey contributed 11 runs. 



Mid Western Region's Anita Chaudhary and Sharmila Magar pocketed two wickets each. In the run chase, none of the batswomen of the regional team managed to reach double digit figure. Laxmi Chaudhary, Trishna Singh and Mamta Thapa contributed six runs each.



Karuna Bhandari was the pick of APF's bowling with three wickets in her name followed by two wickets by Binu Buda Magar. 



In another match, opener Kajol Shrestha cracked unbeaten 55 runs off 51 balls for Eastern Region as it scored 115/3. Roma Thapa was the other player for Eastern Region to score in double figure of 34 runs from 44 deliveries. 



In the run chase, Central Region was all out for 55 runs in 19.5 overs.



Shanti Khatiwada of Central Region became the only batswomen to reach double digit figure as it lost other batswomen too cheaply. 



Santoshi Chaudhary, Kabita Gautam and Rashmi Chaulagain of Eastern Region shared two wickets each under their belt. 



The final and the third place match will be played on Tuesday.
