APF constable dies in Seti River during disaster management training

BAJHANG, June 10: An Armed Police Force (APF) constable lost his life after drowning in the Seti River during a disaster management simulation exercise. Narendra Singh Dhami, 29, from Khikiri, Kedarsyu Rural Municipality-7, lost his life during the training session.


The District Police Office in Bajhang reported that Dhami lost his life after drowning in the Seti River near the Community Drinking Water Project of Jayaprithvi Municipality-11.

According to the police, Dhami drowned and became unconscious while carrying out the training simulation, aimed at showcasing flood mitigating measures. Despite efforts to rescue him, Dhami died while on the way to the District Hospital, Bajhang.


Dhami was actively participating in a disaster-related public awareness program, organised since June 10 by the district-based APF company in collaboration with the District Administration Office, a team of Nepal Police deployed in Jayaprithvi Municipality, Nepalese Army, Rural Women’s Development and Unity Center (RUWDUC), Nepal Red Cross Society, United Mission to Nepal, World Vision, and Progressive Youth Society.


Dhami is survived by his wife and two sons.
