Anushka Shrestha crowned Miss Nepal 2019

KATHMANDU, May 9: Anushka Shrestha was crowned Miss Nepal 2019 at the 24th edition of the Hidden Treasure Miss Nepal Pageant on Thursday evening.

Shrestha won the coveted 'Miss Nepal' crown as she beat 24 other contestants in the grand finale of the Miss Nepal pageant 2019, held at Laboratory School's premises in Kirtipur.

On the occasion, Miss Nepal World 2018 Shrinkhala Khatiwada crowned the 23-year-old commerce graduate Shrestha.

Miss Nepal Shrestha’s brilliant answer in the question- answer round impressed the judges thus helping her clinch the crown. the ceremony was hosted by Sanjay Gupta.

All finalists of the event were asked “If we focus more on duties and responsibilities rather than just on right and freedom we can make this world better. What is your opinion on this statement?” Chief judge Illa Shrestha asked the question.

Anushka answered, “I completely agree with that statement, that focusing on our responsibilities more than our rights would certainly change things for the better.”

“Rights and responsibilities are two parts of a coin. We have been hearing that. And we have talked a lot about what should be done to us. But, it is high time we asked ourselves, What am I doing?, to ask ourselves to be able to look ourselves in the mirror and say," I have fulfilled all my rights, therefore I can put my hand on my heart and say I deserve this. To nbe able to do that, one surely needs to fulfill all our rights; including that of a citizen as a person, as a friend and as a partner. Only after fulfilling our responsibilities, can we ask for our rights to be given to us,” she added.

Her bold answer with a confident smile created a charismatic aura and won everyone's heart.

Moreover, Pradeepta Adhikari, Riya Basnet, Meera Kakshapati,and Rose Lama bagged Miss Universe, Miss Earth, Miss International, and Miss Super National respectively.

Other title winners included, Meera Kakshapati (miss beautiful hair), rose lama (miss glam, miss photogenic), Nancy Bogati (Miss Friendship), Jenny Maharjan (Miss Natural Skin), Riya Basnet (miss popular choice), Pradeepta Adhikari (Miss Best Athletic and Miss Talent), Nisha Pathak (Miss Confident). Similarly, Miss Nepal World, Shrestha also won two more titles — Miss Intellectual and Miss Fascino.

The final 25 contestants had been selected from auditions that were held in eight major cities of Nepal including Kathmandu, Butwal, Dhangadhi, Pokhara and Nepalgunj, Chitwan.
