KATHMANDU, Dec 23: Anti-human trafficking activist Sunita Danuwar has passed away. She was found unconscious at her residence in Jorpati, in the same place where she had been sleeping and was taken to Nepal Medical College (NMC) in Jorpati.
According to her family sources, she was found unconscious on her bed and was rushed to the hospital by her family members. Unfortunately, the doctor declared her dead. The cause of her death has not been revealed yet.
Sunita Danuwar awarded by the US State Department Award
Danuwar, who is also the chairperson of Shakti Samuha established under the leadership of women affected by human trafficking, was featured by America's Fortune magazine as one of the 50 special leaders in the world. Nepali social activist Danuwar was honored as US State Department’s 2018 Heroes for her role in the fight against human trafficking.
