BIRGUNJ, FEB 21: A day after journalist Gyanendra Raj Mishra was shot and injured in Birgunj, another journalist in this southern business hub has been threatened with dire consequences.

A group of people who called two-day banda and burnt the Bypass Daily Saturday morning, later warned journalist Anup Tiwari for what they called writing "false" news.

Journalist Tiwari said that Bijaya Raj Yadav, central member of the youth wing of Madhesi People´s Rights Forum, issued the threat by calling him from phone (number 9845062014).

"He threatened to finish me, accusing me of writing false news," Tiwari said. "I am confident my news is true."

Tiwari has received life threat a day after journalist Mishra based in Birgunj was shot. He is undergoing treatment.

Tiwari has already informed the administration and the police in the district about the threat to him. "Even after that, Yadav has continued to threaten me saying why I complained to the administration and police about the threat."

In the meantime, police has been deployed to provide security to the office of the newspaper in view of the possible attack by the organizer of the banda.

Tarai Media Association has condemned the burning of the newspaper and subsequent threat to journalist Tiwari while demanding of the government to provide security to the journalist and media.
