GANDAKI, Aug 22: The Annapurna Rural Municipality of Kaski district has launched a 'one person, one mask' campaign to contain the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The campaign is being launched in all wards of the rural municipality as the number of COVID-19 cases has seen a sudden spike in recent days. “The ‘one person, one mask campaign’ has been made mandatory in all the 11 wards in the rural municipality,” said Chairperson of Annapurna Rural Municipality Yubaraj Kunwar.

Chairperson Kunwar said 35,000 masks have already been distributed to the villagers, while the rural municipality is planning to distribute an additional 35,000 masks to the villagers. The rural municipality has also distributed 1,500 brochures that contain information about the risk of COVID-19 infection and measures to avoid its possible infection. Villagers were also provided with 7030 soaps to promote hand washing and promote personal hygiene.
The rural municipality has mobilized elected representatives of local government, officials of community organizations, mother's groups and school teachers to run the campaign. “Our campaign has been highly effective. People are becoming increasingly aware about the virus,” said Chairperson Kunwar.
