ANFA, Province 1 sign contract for two big tournaments

MORANG, Dec 15: The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) signed a contract with the Province 1 government, Thursday, to organize two big mofussil tournaments. 


The ANFA will now organize the Chief Minister Province 1 League Football Tournament and International Invitational Chief Minister Cup Football Tournament in coordination with the Province 1 government. 


Social Development Minister of the Province 1 Jeevan Ghimire and President of the ANFA Karma Tshering Sherpa signed the agreement on Thursday.

According to the agreement, ANFA will receive Rs 20 million every year for five years to organize the tournaments. 


For the Chief Minister Province 1 League Football Tournament, a total of 14 district football teams will take part with the provision of the top two teams getting to play in the ANFA President’s Cup. The agreement for the tournament is of Rs 10 million. 


For the International Invitational Chief Minister Cup Football Tournament, seven best province teams, six best A-Division League teams and three foreign teams will take part. The agreement for the tournament is of Rs 10 million. 


The tournaments will be organized for the first time in the Nepali football history under the initiation of a provincial government.


The provincial government is confident that the tournaments will be a great contribution for the promotion of Nepali football and for the growth of talents of Province 1.
