KATHMANDU, Aug 30: The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has pledged USD 300,000 for the repair and maintenance of the Dasharath Stadium.
ANFA made this commitment during a two-day meeting held at the ANFA Complex earlier this week. In addition to funding the stadium repairs, ANFA plans to request the Minister for Youth and Sports and the member secretary of the National Sports Council to oversee the stadium’s ongoing maintenance and operation.
At least three years required to repair Dasharath Stadium
ANFA has highlighted the need for a modern football stadium on par with international standards, with a capacity to accommodate 25,000 to 40,000 spectators. To achieve this goal, ANFA plans to seek government assistance for land acquisition to build a new stadium.
The meeting resolved to allocate USD 2.2 million for the new stadium project and also established a three-member committee to oversee its development. The committee will be chaired by ANFA Vice President Deepak Khatiwada. Other members of the committee include Vice President Dawa Lama and ANFA executive committee member Manish Joshi.
