The executive committee meeting of the ANFA held on Sunday decided to give continuity to the ban on Himalayan Sherpa and Friends until further notice. The four A Division sides, including Saraswati and Machhindra, were banned from all football related activities last year for violating ANFA norms. However, Himalayan Sherpa and Friends have been allowed to keep their status as A Division sides."The ban on Himalayan Sherpa and Friends were left as it is as neither attended the meeting called by ANFA to let them furnish satisfactory clarifications," ANFA CEO Indraman Tuladhar said. "The ban on Saraswati and Machhindra were lifted as they attended the meetings regularly and furnished satisfactory clarifications."
Disclosing the reason for giving continuity to punishment on Friends, Tuladhar further added that, Friends had filed case against ANFA's statute at court.
Expressing dissatisfaction over referee's decision during a league match against Three Star two years ago, Friends had lodged case at court against ANFA, its officials, match officials, tournament organizing committee and disciplinary committee of ANFA. The case is subjudice.
According to Tuladhar, the ban on Himalayan Sherpa and Friends will continue till further meeting. "The punishment on the clubs would be lifted if they furnished satisfactory clarifications."
If the next league begins before the two clubs submit clarification, ANFA might take further decision about those clubs, Tuladhar said. "If they do not change their attitude before the next league, ANFA may take a bold decision to expel those clubs from A Division."
Meanwhile, Himalayan Sherpa President Karma Chhiring Sherpa, who is also the vice president of ANFA, argued that the punishment against the two clubs was against the statute of ANFA. "None of the ANFA's committees, including appeals and disciplinary committees, are functioning. Such decisions of ANFA would further demoralize clubs at a time when Nepali football is going down."
ANFA had asked clarifications with four clubs on May last year after they did not attend meeting called by ANFA. The four clubs had also formed a Football Club Coordination Committee without the consent of ANFA.
Meanwhile, the meeting has also decided to inaugurate parapet being built at the ANFA Complex ground at the opening of the SAFF U-19 Championship, to prepare its financial regulations and present it at the general assembly.
Similarly the meeting also thanked government for allocating budget for upgrading Chyasal grounds and expedite construction process of the stadium.
Besides this, ANFA has decided to ask for funds from the FIFA to lay an artificial turf and install floodlights, construct a futsal ground at the stadium in the future. Similarly, ANFA has approved to appoint a technical director from Japan in association with the Japan Football Association and appoint Madhusudan Upadhaya, general secretary of Bansbari Youth Club, as honorary member of ANFA.
