KATHMANDU June 12: Residents protested after Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) used a dozer on public land in Anamnagar, Kathmandu.

On Monday, a dispute arose between locals after the KMC ran a dozer on public land at Gorkha FM Chowk in Anamnagar, Kathmandu. On the one hand, many locals have been protecting public land for years and are not in favor of demolishing it because it may be necessary during disasters, while on the other, some locals are in favor of allowing the city to demolish it for a new government structure. The disaccord between the locals has made the situation tense.

KMC has started demolishing the area in its 29th ward in order to build a ward office. The City is now running a dozer amid the protesting locals. The locals are in opposition of the KMC office. They argue that KMC can identify which portion isn't public land and build a ward office at the determined area, instead of including the land that the locals depend on for safety during natural disasters. The locals have pledged their support to KMC for the construction of any government building aside from a ward office.
