‘Amalgam 2018’ kicks off

The fifth edition ‘Amalgam’ is being held at Siddhartha Art Gallery and its vicinity in Babarmahal. The art exhibition was inaugurated by Ritu Vaidya, managing director of United Traders Syndicate Pvt Ltd, on Tuesday. Sangita Thapa, director of Siddhartha Art Gallery hosted the inaugural program and Vaidya was present as the chief guest during the event.

The fifth edition ‘Amalgam’ is being held at Siddhartha Art Gallery and its vicinity in Babarmahal. The art exhibition was inaugurated by Ritu Vaidya, managing director of United Traders Syndicate Pvt Ltd, on Tuesday. Sangita Thapa, director of Siddhartha Art Gallery hosted the inaugural program and Vaidya was present as the chief guest during the event. 


Speaking at the inaugural program, Thapa, said, “There is everything in this exhibition, from paintings to sculptures; the only thing and that we are missing is performance art, but we really don’t have space for that. I am really happy with the work of the participant and wish them all the best for their future.”

The first edition of Amalgam was held in 2007, where 34 Nepali and international participants showcased their art. The current exhibition, organized by Siddhartha Art Gallery, features the creation of 44 artists and five guest artists. 


More than 65 art pieces including ceramic arts, paintings, prints, mixed media works, and sculptures are featured in the exhibition. Though the exhibition showcases numerous artworks, veteran artist Gopal Kalapremi’s ceramic art is the main highlight of the exhibition. 


The display covers a wide range of themes including nature, heritage, lifestyle, and culture. It is slated to continue till 28 September.
