Skinny jeans will probably never go out of fashion. But if you’re tired of wearing the same style of jeans every day, you are in luck because, in the past few months, a lot of different fit and styles of jeans have surfaced in the fashion scene that could be a great alternative to skinny jeans. Here are our top picks from the lot.

Straight leg jeans

If you aren’t completely ready to move on from your favorite pair of skinny jeans, straight leg jeans will slowly ease you into other forms of denim. They hug your hips and upper thighs the same way skinny jeans do. But after that point, they pan down straight instead of sticking to your skin. They are much more comfortable to wear than skinny jeans and look flattering on most body types. They also go well with almost any kind of top. Wearing a pair of high-waist straight leg jeans will make you look taller than you actually are. Pair these kinds of jeans with a cropped t-shirt. You could also tuck your top into the waistband of the jeans if it’s too long. Cuffing the bottom of your jeans could also help create a cool look. Wear either a pair of sneakers or ankle boots to complement this look.

Baggy jeans

Silhouettes and designs that were popular in the 90s are resurfacing in the fashion scene again and leading these throngs of 90s trends are baggy jeans. Baggy jeans are the quintessential cool girl item and that can give an edge to any outfit. Although it’s very comfortable to wear, you might end up looking like a sloth if you don’t style them properly. To avoid having a stumpy silhouette, get a pair of baggy jeans that ends a few centimeters above your ankles. You could cuff or fold your jeans if they’re too long. And since frayed and cut off denim are also trendy right now, you could just cut the extra fabric off and let them fray naturally for that effect. Since you’re already wearing loose bottoms, try to wear a fitted top with baggy jeans. To take the focus of your look away from your jeans, you could wear a statement blouse or a stylish pair of shoes and match one with the other.

Utility jeans

Generally speaking, women’s clothing – especially pants – don’t have functional pockets. They are only there for the design and aesthetics and could potentially fit a key and a few coins and crumpled bills at best. Here’s when utility jeans enters and steals the show. Not only are they very easy to wear and very durable too, they also have many pockets. And these pockets can fit your phone, keys, purse, and even a small book at once. To avoid looking too aggressive or casual, try balancing your utility jeans with a simple and elegant top. You could even wear these jeans to semi-formal occasions by pairing them with a shirt and a smart blazer or jacket of sorts. If you like pairing denim with denim, try a camisole, t-shirt or a shirt in the same shade of denim as your jeans and complete the look with your favorite sport shoes.

Loose-cropped jeans and trouser jeans

Loose and messily cropped jeans are all the rage right now. They can be pretty similar to straight leg and baggy jeans – the only difference here might be that you don’t have to worry about cuffing or folding the bottoms since they already come cropped. Since summer is coming up, they will be your go-to jeans in the hot weather because of how loose and breathable they are. Also, they are very versatile so you can style them however you want to.

Although some people call regular flared jeans trouser jeans, that isn’t what we are alluding to here. By trouser jeans, we mean those baggy jeans that have an elastic waistband and bottom cuffs and look similar to a jogger. You might have seen your favorite fashion influencer wearing them when they’re out and about since these jeans are very popular right now. They also fit into the athleisure trend perfectly. Like loose-cropped jeans, they are very versatile and you don’t have to think a lot while incorporating them into an outfit. You can basically wear them with a simple top and a pair of sneakers and still look casually stylish in them. They aren’t really meant for formal occasions though.

Flared jeans

Since the 70s (when they debuted in the mainstream fashion scene), flared jeans have been in and out of fashion constantly. No one would be caught dead wearing them about five or so years ago but in the past couple of years, they have made a great comeback. They are available in a lot of different colors, styles, and silhouettes. You will get a lot of wear out of these jeans since they fit into a lot of different vibes and styles of clothing. You could wear a pair of dark wash tailored flared jeans paired with a shirt and smart shoes to a formal event or a meeting. You could simply wear them with a camisole and sandals and show up at a casual lunch. You could add a statement belt and shoes to your outfit when you are wearing flared jeans and show up at your friend’s birthday party. There are just so many ways you can style them to wear them at different occasions. The options are aplenty.
