KATHMANDU, March 06: All-Nepal Asteroid Campaign 2017 launched during the period January-February has turned out to be the most successful asteroid search program in Nepal since the year 2012.
The participants of the campaign analyzed about 108,000 moving objects at Haleakala in Hawaii, USA.
Scientists working on deflecting asteroids headed for Earth
Altogether five teams, four from Kathmandu Valley and one from Pokhara had participated in the campaign. The team members included high school and university students as well as the university teachers.
All-Asteroid Search Campaign was launched in collaboration with International Astronomical Search Campaign(IASC), USA.
It was intended to provide the students with an opportunity to get engaged in an empirical research based on word-class data.
