Valley DAOs suspend all except emergency services
The agitating Joint Struggle Committee of the institute for the cleansing campaign of the BPKIHS, announced to pull out from work at a press conference on Thursday. The agitators have become dissatisfied with the government saying that it has backed down from the responsibility of investigating the irregularities and has repeatedly failed to take action against the culprits.
Dr Bishnu Pokharel, joint co-coordinator of the struggle committee, said that the government had limited the issues raised into a written agreement but was ignorant in the implementation part. “Thus, we will halt all services of the hospital except emergency and COVID wards from Sunday,” he added.
Dr Pokharel also criticized Prime Minister Deuba for not appointing a health minister during the COVID pandemic. He also said that the current agitation would be against the top leaders of the political parties. Dr SP Rimal, coordinator of the struggle committee, said that the cleansing campaign has reached the Ministry of Health, Government of Nepal and political parties. He further mentioned that there are interferences from the top level while selecting the office-bearers for BPKIHS.
The ‘cleansing campaign’ has been going on in the BPKIHS for the past 80 days. Although the high-level task force formed by the government has recommended taking action against the officials, it has not been implemented and the six-point agreement reached with the agitators has not been implemented.
