KATHMANDU, Jan 3: Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa has said that the government will take action against those defaming President Bidya Devi Bhandari in social media platforms.
Home Minister Thapa receiving a memorandum from All Nepal Women's Association (ANWA) on Sunday maintained that the Ministry of Home Affairs has already initiated investigation into such cases. “Some politicians have tried to defame the president from the streets. That is an unlawful and a criminal act and is being investigated. I have already issued orders for that,” said the home minister.

ANWA through its memorandum has urged the government to take immediate action against all those using inhuman and indecent language against the Prime Minister and the President on social media and other platforms.
There is freedom of expressions, freedom to hold meetings and stage protest in democracy but expression in derogatory and degrading manner is objectionable, the memorandum reads.
