Kathmandu, Aug 29: Chief whip of the main opposition party, CPN-UML, Padam Giri has demanded the government take action against those involved in the Lalita Niwas land-grab scam.
During a special hour of today's meeting of the House of Representatives, he demanded an investigation be carried out focusing on all issues connected with corruption, claiming that a game is being played to let the guilty escape by filing false cases in the scam.
Chief Whip Giri pointed out the need for bringing all big fish linked to corruption and irregularities within the ambit of law. He expressed the view that the people are angry due to the rampant corruption and smuggling that would affect the promotion of good governance.

"Good governance should be promoted by improving the country's situation. The government should be serious about it as there is a situation where the achievements might be lost," he said.
Drawing the attention of the government towards ongoing activities disturbing communal harmony and inviting conflict in recent periods, Giri stressed that all should be responsible in maintaining social harmony and peace.
Govt's attention drawn to control dengue
Former finance minister and Nepali Congress lawmaker, Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, through parliament drew the government's attention to initiate effective measures to control dengue.
"Dengue has now created terror across the country. I want to draw the attention of the bodies concerned to make appropriate arrangements to prevent and control the disease," he mentioned.
He also asked the government to treat the patients having complex health conditions due to dengue by making arrangements for a special hospital.
Saying there are 14,264 dengue patients in Sunsari district alone, Karki stressed that the government should be serious as the death toll from dengue is increasing in the district.
