KATHMANDU, Dec 28: Real estate entrepreneur Sudhir Basnet, who was on the wanted list of Police has been arrested from Dhapashi on Tuesday evening. Basnet had been absconding after being accused of many fraud cases.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Maharajganj Police Circle Govinda Puri informed Republica Online that a joint team of the Verdict Implementation Directorate of the Supreme Court and the Police Circle arrested Basnet from Dhapashi at 11pm on Tuesday. Basnet has been kept in Maharjgunj Police Circle.

Basnet who was at this home in Tokha Municipality tried to run away after learning that the Police team had come to arrest him. Basnet who fell and injured his left hand was, however, arrested.
After first aid, Basnet was taken to the Kathmandu District Court. Basnet, who had been hiding in India, came to Kathmandu on Tuesday.
It is estimated that Basnet owes about Rs 8.6 billion to various banks, co-operatives and individuals.
