'Aaina Jhyal Ko Putali' to represent Nepal in Oscars

KATHMANDU, Sept 19: The International Feature Film Selection Committee of Nepal has decided to recommend the film 'Aaina Jhyal Ko Putali' directed by Sujit Bidari for the 95th edition of the Oscar Awards to be held in the USA next year.

KATHMANDU, Sept 19: The International Feature Film Selection Committee of Nepal has decided to recommend the film 'Aaina Jhyal Ko Putali' directed by Sujit Bidari for the 95th edition of the Oscar Awards to be held in the USA next year.


The committee's meeting held on Monday recommended ‘Aaina Jhyal Ko Putali’ from among the films received. The committee asked filmmakers who are interested in joining the Oscar competition to submit their films by September 15. ‘Prakash’ directed by Dinesh Raut, ‘Radha’ directed by Subarna Thapa and ‘Aaina Jhyal Ko Putali’ directed by Sujit Bidari had applied for participation in the Oscars from Nepal.

According to the statement, the committee decided to recommend ‘Aaina Jhyal Ko Putali’ out of the three films received, taking into account the technical aspect of cinema, presentation of story, the emotional analysis of the characters and the artistry of the presentation.


The Oscars will be held on March 12, 2023 at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles.
