Makeup artist, beauty blogger, and social media influencer Purnima Giri claims she is living her dream life. Currently based in Bangladesh, Giri mentions that she loves the fact that she gets to decide on every aspect of her life and that she is her own boss. The Instagram star who has over 10,000 followers on the social media site frequently uploads new and creative makeup looks and tutorials on her YouTube channel too.

Although most of her days are quite a bit different from one another, here, she gives The Week a basic rundown of what a typical day in her life looks like.

Not a morning person

I don’t like waking up early in the morning. I try to sleep in as late as possible because I believe sound sleep is one of the most important things to lead a healthy life. Although I don’t have a set time as to when I wake up every day, I’m pretty well rested and refreshed every morning. I usually wake up anywhere from 9 am to 1 pm. It usually depends on when I went to bed the night before. When I say I’m not a morning person, it doesn’t mean that I’m grumpy in the mornings and can’t wake up early if I absolutely have to. I make sure I get enough sleep so that I’m pretty relaxed and ready to tackle whatever the day throws my way when I get up.

Morning rituals

I complete my face and mouth wash routines as soon as I wake up and then head out of my room for other activities. As I sip my morning coffee, I call my mom and talk to her for a while and find out how she is doing. I also like planning my day early in the mornings. I find this keeps my day on track.

But I’m also pretty spontaneous so the things listed out on my agenda aren’t always the things I end up doing during the day. I also have my breakfast that usually is just oats and milk.

What a typical day looks like

Since I’m in complete control of all my days, I try to keep my days pretty different. I try to plan things so that every day is slightly different from the day before. Some common things I do quite frequently are film my makeup videos, try and learn new makeup looks and techniques, paint, and try new recipes. Doing different things everyday makes me very happy and keeps me relaxed but interested in life in general as I never get bored.

What I have for lunch depends on where I am during the afternoon. Mostly, I’m home and I have either a sandwich or fried rice. If I’m out, I usually go for dishes like pasta or noodles. I don’t have a heavy lunch. I prefer having light meals for lunch. I actually like having light meals frequently rather than eating a lot at once and then not eating for the rest of the day. Dinner is probably my heaviest meal every day. Most days, I head out after lunch to attend any appointments that I have that day. Also, I love the weather after three in the afternoon and there’s also less traffic during those hours which is an added bonus.

Evening activities

I slip in a light snack after lunch and before dinner. It is either fruits and brown bread sandwiches or simple a hot lemon and honey tea. The late afternoons and evenings are reserved for cooking and my husband. After he gets back from work, we spend as much time as possible together. We work out together every evening from seven to nine. It’s a ritual of sorts. Both of us love working out and want to ensure we are fit and healthy. Working out together has turned out to be a very enjoyable activity. Plus, it also motivates both of us when we see the other person working out so zealously. I also catch up on my favorite sitcoms and TV shows during the evenings and call my mom one last time before she goes to bed.

A total night owl

My night starts with dinner. I like having a filling and healthy meal before bed. But it is mostly simple oil-free food. I spend some more time talking with my husband after dinner. We talk about everything and I really appreciate this time that we spend with each other. It is honestly the highlight of my day. Our sense of humor is quite similar and we make each other laugh all the time. Sometimes I also spend a lot of time at night filming videos for my channel. Just before bed, I like to go through social media apps as it helps me wind down and keeps me updated with what’s happening around the world. On most days, I go to sleep sometime around 2 or 3 am.
