Seven die in Baitadi accident, 36 injured

MAHENDRANAGAR, Oct 14: Seven persons have been killed and 36 more including Nepali international women´s cricketer Sonu Khadka injured when a passenger bus going to Dhangadhi from Baitadi skidded 100 meters off the Dasharath Chand Highway near Dahimandu Bazar in Dahimandu VDC, Baitadi Wednesday evening.



Two of the deceased has been identified as Surendra Dhami of Dahimandu VDC-7 and Man Singh Dhami of Gajari-6. The others have not been identified yet but President of Cricket Development Committee of Region No 6, Baitadi Chatur Bhadur Chand said most of the injured are cricketers. Chand said players of local Tripura Cricket Club traveling in the bus (Na 2 Kha 7547) to participate in a district-level tournament that started last Friday in Patan, Baitadi.



Khadka and other injured are currently being treated at the Baitadi District Hospital. Police and locals are doing rescue work braving dark after the accident at 5:30 pm.
