HETAUDA, Feb 17: The traffic police, who launched a special campaign in the districts of Bagmati Province to reduce traffic accidents, have taken action against 70,331 drivers during the first seven months of the current Fiscal Year (FY) 2024/25.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mohan Khand, spokesperson of the Nepal Police Highway Safety and Traffic Management Office, Chitwan, said that a revenue of Rs 59.189 million was collected from these actions.

DSP Khand said that the speed of vehicles is being monitored through CCTV and radar units installed on the East-West Highway.
According to the office, during the same period, 170 people died and 463 were injured in 1,256 vehicle accidents in 10 districts of Bagmati Province.
He said that vehicle checks have been stepped up on highways and other auxiliary roads as the trend of carrying more passengers than the capacity, driving at high speeds, riding motorcycles without helmets, and riding with three passengers has increased.
