KATHMANDU, March 5: The office of the Controller of the Examination (OCE), Sanothimi, Bhaktapur has accomplished all the preparations of the upcoming School Leaving Certificate (SLC) examinations.

A total of 615,553 students under regular and exempted criteria are appearing for this year's SLC exams that begin on March 31.

Examination controller Krishna Prasad Kapri informed that printing of question papers for a total of 615,553 students has been completed by Thursday.

The question papers and answer sheets have been sent to all the districts except the far-flung Dolpa district and 10 districts in the vicinity of Kathmandu, including the three districts within the Valley -- Lalitpur, Kathmandu and Bhaktapur . The other districts that have not received the papers are Kavre, Dolakha and Sindhupalchowk, according to Kapri.

The OCE has fixed a total of 1,943 exam centers throughout the country. Kathmandu district has the largest number of exam centers (93) for 35,000 students, while Manang and Mustang have the least number of centers (1 in each district). The lowest number of SLC candidates (69) is from Manang.

The total number of students under the regular category includes 225,346 boys and 227,535 girls. Likewise, 62,381 boys and 97,036 girls are appearing for the exams under the exempted category. The technical education category has 1,982 boys and 1,270 girls.

District exams coordination committees instructs for fair exams

To conduct the upcoming SLC exams in a free and fair manner, the OCE has instructed all the district examination coordination committee of ensuring no cheating and no noise in their respective exam centers, deputy controller Guru Prasad Paudel informed.

"For the timely and effective management of the exam centers and superintendents, examination superintendent instruction manual has been prepared and sent to them," Paudel said.

OCE introduces student application memo

Unlike in the previous years, this time the examinees will be able to correct any mistake related to their information, during the examination period itself.

In order to avoid the withdrawal of results owing to mistakes in the details of the examinees, the OCE is going to introduce 'student application memo'. This memo will be handed over to the SLC candidates on the last date of the examination in their respective exam centers.

The memo will help students correct their details including name, date of birth, subject, symbol number, registration number and name of school in case of spelling mistakes or error in information.
