KANCHANPUR, June 26: Fifty-eight Nepali youths who were lured with the promise of attractive jobs and taken to India, where they were held captive, have been rescued and brought back to Nepal.
They were held in two locations: 32 in Rudrapur and 35 in Kashipur, both in the Udham Singh Nagar district of the Indian state of Uttarakhand.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sagar Bohara of the District Police Office, Kanchanpur, the youths were rescued through the joint efforts of civil organizations KIN Nepal and KIN India, the Nepali Embassy in India, the Nepal Police, and the Indian Police. They were brought back via the Gaddachauki border point in western Nepal.
After it came to light that the youths were being held in houses under confinement in the name of employment, the rescue operation was carried out with the help of the Nepali Embassy and various organizations.
The rescued youths were brought to the border point in buses. DSP Bohara informed that investigations are ongoing to track down the individuals who took them to India with false promises of employment.
The Chief District Officer of Kanchanpur, Laxman Dhakal, and the Sudurpaschim Provincial Police Chief, Deputy Inspector General of Police Dambar Bahadur Bishwakarma, welcomed the youths at the border.
Arrangements have been made for the youths from the Sudurpaschim to return home on Wednesday, while accommodations have been managed for those from other districts. Among the rescued, 11 are from Kailali and Doti in the Far-West, and the remaining 46 are from Chitwan, Sunsari, Panchthar, Taplejung, Tehrathum, Dang, Banke, Syangja, Dhading, Kaski, Sarlahi, Rukum, Baglung, Ilam, and Rupandehi.
