53 human skeletons recovered from Langtang

RASUWA, June 6: Various teams of Nepal Army (NA) have recovered 53 human bodies from Langtang areas. A large number of villagers were missing after a massive avalanche swept away the entire village after the April 25 earthquake in the district.

According to DSP Pravin Pokhrel, the rescue teams of NA in coordination with locals recovered 53 human skeletons from the village. Of them, three are supposed to be foreigners.


As many as 128 persons were rescued from the village during the first phase of the rescue operation after the disaster.

A local resident, Derum Lama, said that a total of 333 persons including 183 people of Langtang village were missing after the April 25 earthquake adding that the death toll from the avalanche is not yet confirmed.

The NA personnel from the Mahabir Battalion and Narayan Dal Battalion have been deployed in the search missing of the people buried in avalanche. RSS
