KATHMANDU, March 1: The Foreign Employment Tribunal has decided to imprison and fine the operators of 53 foreign employment companies for sending Nepali workers abroad based on forged documents.
A bench led by Foreign Employment Tribunal Ramesh Kumar Khatri sentenced 53 operators to six months imprisonment and a fine of Rs 100,000 for sending workers abroad with fake documents. The Tribunal has Nisha Baniya and Dr Gopichandra Bhattarai as its members.

The bench found the operators guilty of violating Section 47 (1) of the Foreign Employment Act, 2064 BS and imposed prison sentence and a fine of Rs 100,000. The bench sentenced foreign employment entrepreneur Sher Bahadur Maharjan to three months in prison and fined him Rs 50,000, while Anil Kumar Maharjan, an employee of the company, was acquitted.
