52 poll officers appointed

KATHMANDU, Oct 22: The Election Commission (EC) on Monday appointed 52 polling officers to conduct by-polls at federal, provincial and local levels. 

In consultations with the Judicial Council, the election body trained legal officials and appointed them as poll officers with the mandate of holding the by-polls. The election body is holding elections for a member of House of Representatives, three provincial assembly members and 48 positions of local bodies in November after the positions remained vacant. 

The positions remained vacant after elected people’s representatives died in accidents or due to diseases since three sets of elections were held in 2017.
